It has taken me months to write this review because I am still completely devastated and heartbroken over the loss of my sweet cat, Benson. I would give them zero stars if I could.
Between November and February, I brought Benson into FurBuds multiple times for various symptoms. At his February yearly checkup, I paid for their most expensive, comprehensive yearly check up and blood work package ($300+). The clinic told me his only issues were high glucose and weight, and they put him on another prescription diet food. (He had lost 8 pounds in the last 12 months and they never once commented on how great his weight loss was in just 12 short months.)
They also recommended a dental cleaning under anesthesia. I trusted them and agreed, but that was the beginning of the end. After picking Benson up, he never returned to his normal state. The anesthesia severely impacted his ability to eat, and his condition deteriorated rapidly over the next two weeks. He began throwing up daily and developed bloody stool.
We brought him back to Fur Buds multiple times, explicitly detailing the vomiting, bloody stool, and his altered behavior. Every single time, the staff dismissed our severe concerns, claiming it was "just stress," prescribing probiotics, and insisting nothing was wrong. Not one time did his actual vet talk to me in person regarding any of his issues. I had not seen the actual vet at an appointment in over 2 years.
After two weeks of watching him suffer while Fur Buds brushed us off, we took him to the Auburn University Veterinary Clinic. In just one day, the team at Auburn discovered that Benson had advanced stomach cancer that had already metastasized throughout his entire body. They told us it had progressed so far that there was nothing we could do and that he had a month or so to live.
The medical neglect from FurBuds Veterinary Clinic is entirely unacceptable. I was a proactive, caring owner bringing my cat in for months, begging for answers. FurBuds missed a terminal, full-body cancer because they had severe tunnel vision, only focusing on his weight and glucose. Because of their failure to investigate his clear symptoms, Benson tragically passed away just two weeks after Auburn University finally gave us the correct cancer diagnosis.
They have caused insurmountable heartbreak for me and my family. If you love your pets, do not ever bring them to this clinic. They should be shut down for this type of neglect and malpractice.
Our son in law brought in an injured bunny for treatment and left our contact information so we could be updated on its condition. When we called later that same day, we were told that after three hours the bunny had not yet been seen. Over the next two days, we made multiple calls but received no updates at all.
On the third day, my daughter called and was told—without any prior communication—that the bunny had been euthanized. We were never contacted beforehand or given the opportunity to understand the situation or discuss options.
When my wife called back because my daughter was understandably upset, the staff member she had spoken to was rude to her. Unfortunately, my own experience with the front office was similar—they were dismissive and interrupted me while I was trying to express my concerns. I left my number requesting a call from a manager or doctor.
When the doctor finally returned my wife's call, the situation was brushed off as a “surrender,” and no apology or acknowledgment of our concerns was offered.
This experience was deeply upsetting, and we feel it’s important for others to be aware. Based on what we experienced, there was a lack of communication, compassion, and professionalism throughout the entire process.
