Athens Animal Hospital

EDIT: Ironic that after writing a positive review earlier today I had probably my only bad experience with AAH after picking up my two cats that I was told were ready for pickup. I confirmed before picking them up that I could speak briefly with the vet to at least get a basic run down on what was wrong with my cats, get medications, wound care, etc. but when I got there, I ended up sitting over an hour. I had to ask multiple times for anything to get done, including being given medications that I wasn't explained whatsoever what they were for, and the new girl working up front wasn't rude but she also doesn't seem to have a grasp on anything going on, which did contribute to a lot of the confusion I experienced today. I waited almost an hour just to be checked out, when multiple other people arrived after me and were checked out no problem. I'm still extremely upset with how things were handled because I would've been perfectly fine with coming back another day if they'd told me Dr. Grantland wasn't going to speak with me like I'd been told when I first came in, and that he was going to talk to multiple other people first. It's understandable because I know they're busy, but at the very least an explanation would have been nice and a common courtesy. I'm disabled with a genetic brain disease, so a bit of basic information could've gone a long way. I get that they're busy, but I was told I'd be able to talk to him, and all I'd asked was to ask for the diagnosis and wound care/instructions. Not that I'd have to wait an hour and a half to two hours for that to happen. Again, I had to ask for all of those things instead of being given or explained anything; it's not good practice to tell someone you're ready for them if you're not ready for them to come in, even if you're busy...I would've had NO problem waiting at home to come pick up my pets an hour or so later if I'd been properly told. Despite this I'm keeping my positive review up because the rest of the staff there are still incredible and patient, despite the confusion and me getting upset towards the end. I just hope that maybe in the future they can change the way they handle things like this. AAH is a great vet, but this is honestly not okay for long standing customers. ---- I'm extremely grateful to them for all they've done for the multiple strays I've rescued since moving to Alabama. I live off of a big interstate/highway, so there's sadly an influx of animals that find their way onto our property after being dumped or injured. Athens Animal Hospital has prices that are much, MUCH better than the majority of the other vets around Athens, with vet bills often coming out to less than half what I would've paid elsewhere. Very thankful that they exist; Dr. Grantland and his staff seem to genuinely care. They do what's in the best interest of the animals that come through their door by advocating for them, which I truly respect.

Love everyone there!! They're absolutely wonderful to my Molly!

Good folks helping the best boys and girls.

The staff and Dr Grantland are amazing!
